What are Whole Grain Foods?
Wholegrain foods are made from whole grains. The entire grain retains all three parts of the kernel, including the bran, germ and endosperm. Unlike refined grains, which are stripped of the bran and germ, whole grains provide you with more fibre, vitamins and minerals, making them a healthier choice.
Common examples of different wholegrain foods include:
- Brown rice
- Quinoa
- Oats
- Barley
- Whole wheat
- Millet
- Farro
- Buckwheat
- Amaranth
- Spelt
- Teff
- Bulgur
