Our Meal Kits: Sustainable by Nature

The way we source, pack and ship generates less food waste than traditional food operations. As a result, our customers waste less food while cooking and serving meals at home.

Sustainability Report 2020

In 2020 we offered more customers than ever a safe, convenient way to source fresh ingredients. As we grew, so did our commitment to do so sustainably. Read our 2020 Sustainability Report to learn exactly how we acted on this commitment – from becoming the first global carbon-neutral meal kit company to donating €13 million worth of unused food to those in need.

Freshly Sourced

Where food comes from is as important as how it tastes. We attach a great deal of importance to regional and seasonal produce, as well as sustainable agriculture, fishing, and animal farming.

Giving Back

We are proud to support the community through organisations like Kiwiharvest to make sure that any food surplus we have at our packing facility is donated to those who need it most.

HelloFresh helps prevent plastic pollution

We’ve partnered with Plastic Bank®️ to set up three plastic collection branches in Indonesia. These collection centers will stop over 750,000 kg of plastic from entering the ocean over three years – an equivalent of 37.5 million plastic bottles. Each center works with members of the local community, offering them a premium for every piece of plastic waste they collect. This enables the collectors to provide basic necessities like food, cooking fuel, health care and education for their families. The recovered plastic waste is then recycled and integrated back into the plastic value chain as Social Plastic®. In this way, HelloFresh will support over 560 families in need while making a tangible contribution to the fight against plastic pollution.
