• Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Grease and line the cake tin with baking paper. • Finely chop apple. Zest lemon, then cut in half. Measure 200ml vegetable oil. • In a medium heatproof bowl, place the butter. Microwave in 10 second bursts until melted. • Add slivered almonds and classic oat mix (see ingredients) and stir to combine.

Beat with electric beaters until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes. • Using a wooden spoon, fold in the cinnamon and basic sponge mix until just combined. Add apple and gently fold until just combined.
