Cooking Steps

Cook the garlic rice
1

Finely chop the garlic. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter with a dash of olive oil over a medium heat. Cook 1/2 the garlic until fragrant, 1-2 minutes. Add the basmati rice, water (for the rice) and the salt, stir and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to low and cover with a lid. Cook for 10 minutes, then remove from the heat and keep covered until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed, 10 minutes. TIP: The rice will finish cooking in its own steam so don't peek!

Get prepped
2

While the rice is cooking, roughly chop the Asian greens. Grate the carrot (unpeeled). Finely grate the ginger. In a small bowl, combine the ginger, oyster sauce, soy sauce, honey and water (for the sauce). Set aside.

Cook the greens
3

In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over a medium-high heat. Cook the Asian greens and the remaining garlic until tender, 1-2 minutes. Season to taste. Transfer to a medium bowl and cover to keep warm.

Cook the beef
4

Return the frying pan to a high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Cook the beef mince, breaking it up with a spoon until browned, 3-4 minutes. Add the carrot and cook until softened, 2-3 minutes. Add the honey-soy sauce mixture and cook until slightly reduced, 1-2 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Make the sesame slaw
5

While the beef is cooking, add the garlic aioli, sesame oil blend (see ingredients) and shredded cabbage mix to a large bowl. Season with pepper and toss to coat.

Serve up
6

Divide the garlic rice between bowls and top with the honey-soy beef, Asian greens and sesame slaw. Spoon over any remaining sauce from the pan. Garnish with the crispy shallots.
