Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced. Cut potato into fries, then place on a lined oven tray. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic & herb seasoning. Toss to coat, spread out evenly, then bake until tender, 20-25 minutes.
Little cooks: Kids can help sprinkle over the seasoning and tossing the fries.
Meanwhile, grate beetroot. In a large frying pan, heat a good drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook beetroot, the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar until softened, 2-3 minutes. Add the water and cook, stirring occasionally, until reduced, 5-6 minutes. Season to taste. Transfer to a bowl.
While the beetroot relish is cooking, finely chop garlic. In a large bowl, add garlic, beef mince, fine breadcrumbs, All-American spice blend, the egg and a pinch of salt and pepper. Using damp hands, shape beef mixture into evenly sized patties, slightly larger than your burger buns (1 per person). Set aside.
Little cooks: Join the fun by helping combine the ingredients and shaping the mixture into patties!
Wash and dry the frying pan, then return to medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Cook beef patties until just cooked through, 4-5 minutes each side.
TIP: Reduce the heat to medium if the patties begin to char.
Meanwhile, thinly slice tomato into rounds. Bake burger buns directly on a wire oven rack until heated through, 3 minutes.
Slice burger buns in half, then spread smokey aioli over the bases. Top with beetroot relish, mixed leaves, a beef patty and some tomato. Serve with herbed fries.
Little cooks: Take the lead and help build the burgers!
