In a medium saucepan, add the water and bring to the boil. Add the basmati rice, stir, cover with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 10 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat and keep covered for another 10 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. TIP: The rice will finish cooking in its own steam so don't peek! Stir through the black sesame seeds, then cover with a lid to keep warm. TIP: You can just sprinkle the black sesame seeds on the adult portions if the kids aren't fans!
While the rice is cooking, finely grate the ginger. In a medium bowl, place the beef strips, ginger, honey amd soy sauce and toss to combine. Set aside.
Thinly slice the carrot into half-moons. Thinly slice the red capsicum. Cut the broccoli into small florets and chop the stalk into small pieces. Thinly slice the spring onion.
In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over a a medium-high heat. Once hot, add the carrot, capsicum and broccoli and cook, stirring, for 4-5 minutes, until tender. TIP: Add a splash of water to the pan to help the veggies cook faster! Transfer to a medium bowl.
Return the frying pan to a high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add 1/3 the beef strips and cook, tossing, for 1-2 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Transfer to the bowl with the vegetables and repeat with the remaining beef strips. TIP: Cooking the meat in batches over a high heat keeps it tender. Return the vegetables and beef strips to the pan with the teriyaki sauce and cook, stirring, for 1 minute, or until warmed through.
Divide the sesame rice between bowls and top with the teriyaki beef. Sprinkle the adult portions with the spring onion.
