Cooking Steps

Get prepped
1

• Finely chop garlic and onion (see ingredients). • Shred cos lettuce (see ingredients). Grate the carrot (see ingredients). Little cooks: Don your goggles and have a go at peeling off the onion's outer layer!

Prep the aioli
2

• In a small bowl, add garlic aioli and season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Set aside. Little cooks: Help prep the aioli!

Cook the veggies
3

• In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. When oil is hot, add onion and carrot, season with salt and cook, stirring, until softened slightly, 4-5 minutes. • Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute.

Cook the beef
4

• Increase heat to high, then add beef mince and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until just browned, 3-4 minutes. • Remove pan from heat, then add oyster sauce and the soy sauce and stir until just combined, 1 minute. Season to taste.

Heat the tortillas
5

• While the beef is cooking, microwave mini flour tortillas on a plate in 10 second bursts, until warmed through.

Finish & serve
6

• Thinly slice fresh chilli (if using) and radish. Spread a thin layer of aioli over tortillas. • Top with some cos lettuce and Vietnamese-style beef and veggies. • Sprinkle with crispy shallots, radish and chilli to serve. Enjoy! Little cooks: Take the lead and help build the tacos! Enjoy!

Review summary

Updated on Aug 2026
  • Flavour: Reviewers found the beef mince tasty and the overall dish satisfying; one noted the oyster sauce lends a rich, savoury depth that some found a little strong.
  • Ease of prep: Quick and easy to pull together, making it a great option for a relaxed weeknight or weekend meal.
  • Suggestions: Add more fresh herbs to lift the flavours, and consider using only as much lettuce as needed rather than the full amount. One reviewer noted the apple felt out of place, so feel free to leave it out if it's not to your taste.
  • Portions: Some reviewers felt the tortilla size was on the small side for the amount of filling, and one noted the meat quantity felt a little light for four people.
